Thank you for visiting Whittlin' Woodcarver. All of the woodcarvings shown on this site were hand carved by me, Dave Barley. All carvings are made from basswood unless otherwise noted. They are hand-painted with acrylic paint and antiqued. All collectible carvings are signed by me, dated and numbered. They are one-of-a-kind woodcarvings.
Inside you will find many original hand carved Old World Santas, snowmen, carved walking sticks and wood canes, wood spirits, lighthouses, sailors, gnomes, angels, old western cowboys, character carvings and many more unique custom woodcarvings.
The items pictured on this site are samples. Most have been sold and are in private collections. Your order will be similar in style and color. If you would prefer a different color scheme on any one of my pieces, I would be happy to do so at no additional charge. Since no two woodcarvings are alike, the item you order will have slight differences in design than the one pictured. An exception to the above would be my carved walking sticks, wood canes, lighthouses and wood spirits. Each piece of wood is substantially different, therefore, your order for one of these pieces will have substantial differences.
My whittlings make wonderful collectibles to pass down from generation to generation. Custom carvings make great Christmas gifts or gifts for any other special occasion.
I welcome custom design orders. If you wish a custom design, please contact me by email with the details, and I may possibly be able to accommodate you. I have had customers request custom Santa carvings holding different items such as a plunger, golf club, loon and so on. A custom carving may incur additional cost and/or time however. A woodcarving makes a great unique gift, especially a caricature carving, for the person who has everything.
My caricature carvings have been a big hit. All I require is a photograph, and I can carve a likeness of your friend, boss or family member. With the emailed photo, a unique characteristic of the person can be included. For example, if the person is a plumber, I can carve a plunger in his hand. If the person is a fisherman, I can carve him holding a fishing pole with his big catch! Other items can be done such as a rifle, golf club or other item from a person's favorite sport, hobby or occupation. Each order takes approximately 2 to 4 weeks to fill. Orders are filled as they are received.
In addition to the Pay Pal payment option, I also accept personal checks. Of course, your check must clear before any shipment is made. For international orders and shipments to Alaska and Hawaii, please contact me for shipping rates.
